Sewing instructions pleated skirt by Brigitte Kreativ
MATERIAL (SIZE 38-44):
Patterned cotton (130 cm with 115 cm fabric width, e.g. "Fancy prints“), Striped fabric in blue and white (100% cotton, 10 cm for 140 cm fabric width), 1 concealed zip in gray (20 cm long), matching sewing thread, tape measure, pins, fabric scissors
HOW TO DO IT:
The measurements are for size 38. For sizes 40, 42, 44 add 4 cm to the total per size. The seam allowances of 1 cm on each edge are already included for all parts in the pattern. Cut the front and back of the skirt twice from the patterned cotton fabric according to the drawing. Cut the waistband into 2 cm x 10 cm from the striped fabric. Place box pleats as indicated on the upper edge in the front and back of the skirt, pin and stitch in place. (The trading card on page 78 explains how to sew box pleats.) Place front and back right sides together, close right side seam and overcast.
Overcast the left side seam separately 20 cm from the upper edge, close the seam from the zipper marking, enchant the seam allowance. Iron the hem edge 2 cm, fold in twice at 1 cm and just topstitch. Iron the waistband left sides together for breakage, sew from the left to the edge of the skirt, iron the seam allowance into the waistband, stitch from the right with the folded edge just on the seam. Sew in the concealed zip in the left side seam up to the waistband. Zipper tape, with tucked-in upper edge, just stitch on in the waistband.
